The pace was high from the start in today’s third match of The Atlantic Cup. For Norwegian club Rosenborg, this was their first game in 2026, while Randers is gearing up for the league opener against Brøndby at home in Denmark. Both teams struggled to find real conviction in front of the opponent’s goal, but the Danes came close on a couple of occasions in the first hour.

Then it happened in spectacular fashion when Randers broke the deadlock, taking a deserved lead after 67 minutes. Elies Mahmoud unleashed a shot that rocketed into the top corner like a missile. Without a doubt, the finest goal seen so far in this year’s Atlantic Cup, and it was the only one in a match that could have easily seen more goals. Both coaches were pleased with how their respective sides performed. Rosenborg’s Alfred Johansson praised the effort of all players who saw action, while Rasmus Bertelsen felt his team was ready to face Brøndby next week when the league resumes in Denmark.
