It was a Swedish victory when Brøndby and Värnamo met at Estadio Algarve. The Danes took the lead after just under half an hour through Rasmus Lauridsen, but ten minutes later Mohammad Alkaskadi equalised. In an evenly played game, the team from Copenhagen came back in front thanks to an own goal 12 minutes into the second half. Then it was ready for the John Kalu show. Two great goals in two minutes, just as we passed the hour mark was what was needed for a Swedish victory.

Värnamos’ two-goal scorer told The Atlantic Cup how nice it was to score his first goals for the club’s new coaches. He also told how satisfied he was with his stay so far, in what is his first visit to Portugal. Brøndby’s goalscorer Rasmus Lauridsen told how disappointed he was that the team lost, even though he was not worried about the start of the series at home in Denmark
